dog nail problem

Question
My pug has one nail that is thicker than the others. The last couple of times we've had her nails trimmed were at a different groomer than before. At the old groomer, there was never any problem - we don't even know if the nail was like this then.
But the last couple of times, they didn't trim that nail. They told my daughter when she picked up the dog that 'once they get like that there's not much you can do with them.' The nail is really getting long, is turning sidways when she stands because it's long. I keep meaning to call the vet and ask, but keep forgetting to do that.
Are you familiar with this problem? Does it make sense that the nail can't be trimmed? If so, what do we do?
Thanks for any info.

Answer
The nail should be able to be trimmed as long as there is not a medical reason. And it needs to be trimmed or it could cause the nail to become sore or hurt. Maybe you could try going to your old groomer. If not, then I suggest taking your dog to the vet to get it's nails trimmed. I hope this helped. Have a good day.
