Fractures in Dogs

Question
My Dog broke her leg on July 4th and we have had her casted for 8 weeks now.  She repeatedly pulls her leg out of her cast (every 2 weeks or so) and we have to take her back in to recast.  Every time we go back, she sees a tech not a vet, and they tell us that her leg has not healed at all. She had xrays on the last visit that they said also showed her leg has not healed.  When she has her cast on she will walk (and run at times) just fine.  But when she gets her leg out she won't walk on it at all. I'm in the medical field (humans), and know that there should be some calcification on the bone after 8 weeks.  I am very confused by what the vets office tells us, and how much money they keep charging us each time.  Should they be doing something else to help her bone heal?  I feel  they should at least provide a cast that wont come off such as fiberglass.  Should I be wary of this vet?  Also is there anything I can do to help her bone heal such as calcium or phosophate supplements?
Thank you-

Answer
Here are some things you are NOT telling me.

Your dog broke its leg, you are in human medicine and yet you are not telling me you have your dog on STRICT REST. That means NO playing, NO long walks, No nothing fun! Just lots of belly rubs and LOVE!

Sounds like you also need to see a surgeon and have the leg pinned or amputated if it is not healing.
