Table food vs. dog food

Question
My husband and I have gotten into the bad habit of feeding our dogs from the table, so that now neither of them will eat dog food.  One is a 3 year old shih-tzu/pom mix, and the other is a 7 month old shih-tzu.  The 7 mo. old has been having diarrhea, so I know we have to stop feeding her from the table.  The 7 mo. old will eventually come around and eat dog food, but the 3 year old will not.  I need advice on how to proceed.

Answer
Dog food is complete and balanced and is ideal to feed unless you have a lot of time to cook human food and add all the necessary vitamins and minerals.

I would suggest adding some meat baby food to the dog food to get him to eat.  If he doesn't eat for a few days, don't worry because he will eat when he is hungry enough if he realizes that all he is getting.

I would take a stool sample to the vet for the pup to make sure he doesn't have any intestinal parasites.  You can give him some plain yogurt to help with stomach upset.  If the diarrhea doesn't resolve in 2-3 days on it's own, take a trip to the vet.
