1wk old great dane pups, 1 has big, flat belly

Question
We had two litters of pups: one on 8/25 and one on 8/28.  Pandora's litter, 10 pups, one of the pups, the smallest one (1 lb, 3 oz as of day 6) has a big, flat belly.  The others are nice and plump, but this one seems to be abnormally large around the belly... can't be worms, can it?  We've watched them very close, and he's pooed already, but not today.  We've tried stimulating poo, but he just pees.  Mom has been doing a great job pottying them.  But I'm very concerned about this pup.  Deposit is already paid for this one, and I don't want to lose him!  Is it gas?  Can I treat it somehow?  Thanks

Answer
Sharon, Well, Best Wishes on all the pups.. I wonder about him, too!
You can try to stimulate the anal area with a q-tip ....
Also, you can give him a little bit of canned pumpkin - 1/2 a teaspoon,,,, see if this helps.

As for worms, yes, it is possible form mom's milk.... He is too young to treat. Also, could be bacteria overgrowth.  I would have some blood work done at the vet.  Make sure his liver and systems are functioning well.

Sorry, it is just too hard to tell without a vet looking at him.

Good Luck
