Question
hello,
i have a mixed breed and from what i hear and see he's a 5 yr. old palm/chawawa. he has always had a good top and bottom layer coat. unfortunately, like any college student. i have some crazy friends. i was at class, came back and my dog had been SHAVED!! i have shaved him once before and his coat grew back soft, shinny, and quickly! he now has a patch on his direct back that does have the outer hair coat, but lacks that fluffy thicker coat. it hasn't grown back well. my "friends" shaved him all the way down... as if a vet would if they were prepping for surgery... i take very good care of his coat by daily brushing and baths once a month or more... during the winter...
thanks for you time! i would love to hear anything!

Answer
When you shave a dog down like that it could take a long time for the hair to grow back. I don't know where you live but we are in springtime here and the dogs are shedding out their undercoats for the summer. So he may grow it back next winter when he starts to grow in his winter undercoat.

I think you should be very careful with your dog around your 'friends.' Who knows what they will do/give him next. It might be something fatal.
So please be careful. This alone was a trauma to your dog. Who knows how scared he was of the clippers?

What seems funny is actually animal abuse- so I don't take that lightly. I hope you won't either.
