puppy vomitting

Question
I have a 9 week old miniature toy poodle.  I've had him for 5 days now.  He's been great.  This morning however, he started vomiting clear fluid again, and again.  I took him outside, and he started to have a regular bowel movement, but towards the end it was clear fluid.  I took him to the vet who examined him and kept him to help with dehydration.  He monitored him for most of the day.  His vomiting stopped at 1pm, and started to drink and was fed a high protein meal.  I brought him home at 6pm.  He ate at 7pm, drank, and urinated.  At 9pm., he started to vomit small amounts of fluid mixed with some food.  I called the vet again, and was told to readmit him in the morning as the puppy will be x-rayed.
Did I buy a sick dog?  Or is it something that he picked up.  He's been eliminated in the same area.  No other dogs have been exposed to this area.  Not so sure about raccoons.
I paid $1000 for this dog, and 5 days in I'm spending more.  Is there laws to protect me?  But most importantly, what's going on with our puppy?  I've goggled his symptoms and from what I've read Parvo may be the cause to all this, or am I missing something?
I called the the breeder this morning before the vet for help or suggestions, and he mentioned Parvo as well.

Help!

Answer
Your puppy most likely picked up Parvo at the breeders. It takes 7-10 days to incubate this virus, and since you have only had him for five days, he was exposed at the breeders.

You need to get the vet to document this and yes, the breeder is responsible. Now you have two choices.
1. Send the puppy back for another one (which may also come down with parvo). The breeder is going to try and talk you into this one.
or
2. Get the breeder to pay for all the treatments, for which they are legally responsible for since the dog was exposed at their breeding facilities.

Either way, if the dog doesn't survive, you need to get compensated for all these expenses. Make sure you keep EVERY receipt from the breeder to all of the vet bills.

If push comes to shove in a court of law you will need them. You already paid about $700 too much for this dog as it is unless he is from Show stock.

I hope he survives and gets well. Contact your vet about the legalities in this case as I am not a lawyer.
