Question
I have a pomi/chi who ate marrow form a bone 2 days ago. She was tired the first day but is now is running around after our two dogs. She has an appetite but has terrible gas. I have looked up pancreatitis, she may have a mild case. What do you think?

Answer
Dogs with pancreatitis do not run around and play with other dogs. Gas is caused by food not being digested properly or food that doesn't agree with the dog. Pancreatitis is a condition where the pancreas becomes so inflamed that it starts to digest itself. It is extremely painful to the dog. They often vomit green to yellow bile along with the pain and diarrhea.

Little dogs are fairly prone to pancreatitis and it is a very serious condition that is often fatal. Your dog should never get any kind of bones, human food, table scraps and easy on the dog treats.

She should be on a high quality food made for small breeds that is highly digestible and promotes good digestive health.

Never feed her anything like, ham, beef fat, raw eggs, cheese etc.
