Cat steroid injections

Question
We have been struggling to clear up an inner ear infection in my 4 year old cat.  She has feline leukemia.  She currently takes 0.05 mL of 5 mg predisone every other day to control vomiting that we have not found the source of. (But she has had an ear infection for almost a year: 5 different ointments and pills have been unsuccessful.) She currently had her teeth removed (2 weeks ago)because they have become rotten and removing them may also help the clearing up of her ear infection.  We have tried the the baytril antibiotic but she reacted violently with vomiting.  Two days ago, to boost her system, she received a shot of a steroid on the back of her neck(not sure of name) and she has a sore at the injection site.  Is this common?  She is also losing a patch of fur under her neck.  Could this be from the prednisone, Baytril or the injection of steroid?  Is losing fur a side effect of the steroid or antibiotic.....or could this be the massive stress of vomiting, us shoving pills down her throat causing stress or from the antibiotic?  Other than all this, she is healthy, eats like a pig, but is sick of us poking at her and runs at the site of the pill!

Answer
With feline leukemia, the cat's resistance is very low and it is difficult to get them to participate in their own recovery.  When an infection in a cat will not clear up, it is usually  middle ear infection that will not respond to topical treatment. For middle ear infections, I use a drug called AZITHROMYCIN.  It is a human medication that gets the bacteria commonly found in cat middle ear diseases. Baytril can cause problems if given orally to a cat.
