Cat having vomiting problems

Question
I have a cat who will be 1 in june. He eats a vet recomended food, weighs approx 8 to 9 lbs, and is usually very heathy and playful. For the last 3 weeks he has been vomiting a dark yellow liquid. The odd time it has food in with it but mainly just the liquid. He does not do this on a daily basis perhaps 3 times a week. I am not sure why he would be doing this. He still is playful and cuddly as always but he has these tendancys to throw up and its always the same colour. Could he have a stomach virus or what could possibly be bothering him. Thanks in advance.

Answer
First let me apologize for my late reply, apparently they were sending all my questions to spam since I got back from vacation!

Yellow in the vomit would indicate he is having some sort of issues with his gall bladder, hi pancreas or even his liver. In that case, I would certainly call your vet and ask them if there is something you can give him since he appears to be alright in every other way. However, if he is a year old anyway, it is time for his yearly vet visit and vaccinations so you might want to take him in a bit early for that and have him looked at.When cats vomit it is usually just clear or white foamy stomach fluid. So anything yellow we take notice of.

They will most likely pull some blood from him to check his liver enzymes and pancreatic function. Then he can give you a direction in which to go from that.

I hope it is nothing too major. Let me know what you find out.
