Question
I have a 17 year old Yorkie that walks in circles. He did it yesteday for
about an hour. He seemed confused and out of it. Did he have a stroke?

Answer
Hi there!  Usually a stroke would cause lameness and drooling.  Have you been around him before he starts walking in circles?  Often times older dogs may have siezures, and afterwards walk around in circles and seem very disoriented.  This is actually a very common happening at this age. Older dogs also have the tendancy to develop other neurological problems that would cause these sort of symptoms as well.  I would definately recommend a vet visit to see what is causing this kind of behavior.
I hope this is helpful,
Hilary
