kitten just de-wormed 5 days ago and he has blood in his stool ?

I have a kitten that is around 3 1/2 months old. I got him de-wormed for all parasites this week and then just a few min ago he meowed and had a bowel movement on my bathroom rug. He always uses the litter box. On the top of the pile of stool there was some blood. He has been to the vet and I wonder if this is a reaction to the de-worming or if is something else. Any help would be appreciated.

This is not unusual at all. Blood in the stool is common after de-worming a kitten. Make sure that you de-worm them again in 10 days. That way you get any newly hatched worms that may be growing.

Some kittens will get diarrhea from the medicine and the subsequent removal of the worms. Some will also get tired but they will recover from this.

Bloody stool can also be from feeding milk or changing foods too often. Keep your kitten on one food and do not feed Purina Kitten chow as it has milk on it or in it.
