Feline loss of bladder control.

Question
I have a 3 year old neutered cat.  He was recently lost for a couple of days (we think he might have been stuck somewhere), and since his return, he seems to have lost some bladder control.  He is eating and drinking normally, and will use the litterbox.  But if he is laying on the couch or my bed, he just seems to leave a puddle.  Its very spread out, almost like it is just leaking out of him.   I cannot get in to see my vet until Wednesday.  Any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Trina!  It is possible that your cat may have gotten into something toxic when he was out and about.  I would definately have your veterinarian check him ASAP, preferably before Wednesday.  Usually when a cat looses control of their bladder, this indicates a kidney problem and it is possible that he may have gotten into anifreeze while he was out (if he was outside) or that he may have gotten into an ant trap/mouse or rat poison, paint (chipped or wet) or something else that may be toxic...which there are many things that cats have reactions to.
It would be best to get him into your vet and have his kidney values checked as soon as possible.
Please let me know how he does,
Hilary
