Vetalog injection concerns/ maltese blepharitis; nu vet / cleaning

Question
I have an 8 month old, 4 lb, male Maltese puppy. He was diagnosed with Bleparitis on his right eyelid on february 17th. The vet gave him an injection of Vetalog and sent me home with 1 weeks worth of Clavamox antibiotic. My puppy was not himself for about 10 days.  He slept round the clock, did not want to play, had potty accidents on the floor, bed and couch (he is potty trained very well). He had a good appetite though (which is normal for him). He is back to normal now even though his Blepharitis is still there after all that. My concern and question is, can one injection of Vetalog do any kind of permanent damage to the kidneys, liver, heart, etc? I have read stories of the possiblity on the internet. I always give him the best and am very picky with what he eats. He is on a raw food diet, he takes salmon oil every day, I give him enzymes pro plus and Solid Gold cranberry, blueberry supplement, and the last two weeks I have been giving him the Animal Apothecary detox which has Dandelion, Burdock, Red Clover and Milk Thistle in it.Please let me know if you think one injection of Vetalog can harm him permanently and if there is anything else I can give him to counteract any permanent damage it may have done. Needless to say I will switch vets and take him to a Holistic vet from now on. Thank you for your advice.

Answer
Hi Christine; Don't worry, one injection of Vetalog will not hurt your Maltese's liver or other body systems.  Glad you are not going to continue with the harsh treatments.

I would like you to add this treatment to your program and also some NuVET Plus Immune system boosters.

First the treatment:

Dilute some baby shampoo...a teaspoon of shampoo in a pint of water

Soak a cotton wool ball in warm (almost hot) water in the dilute baby shampoo. Bath the eyelids with the cotton wool ball over the closed eyelids for 2 minutes...just hold the ball over the eyelids ...this will loosen any scales on the eyelid

Then clean the edge of the lower eyelid with a cotton bud (or the cotton  ball) to remove scales and debris on the edge of the eyelid.

Move the cotton bud/cotton wool ball along the eyelid and pulling the lid away from the eyeball with the fingers of the other hand. Rub the edge of the lid gently.

You can get Puppy Organic Shampoo or use some Organic human baby shampoo.

NEXT - NuVET Plus - Give this little Maltese just 1 wafer per day for 10 days and then go to just 1/2 per day -

So, continue with 1/2 per day of the NuVET Wafers-
NuVET helps to fight off infections and Boosts the Immune Systems.
Call 1-800-474-7044  ( give order code 81098 and my name : Marie Peppers ) Tell them you would like a 60 count bottle of the NuVet at 39.00 each bottle...

We have so many Maltese clients taking the NuVET Plus .... Works wonderful and you won't need the Detox product when you take NuVET Wafers or Powder.... NuVET makes a powder but most dogs love the wafers....

So, keep in touch and let me know how the eyes are in a few weeks.
