travelling with pet

i am travelling from india to US with my pet for a three month trip she is 10 years old has arthritis i would like some advice on the custom formalities for my travel to the US

Customs is very very easy for pet entry into USA
Health cert issued within 10 days of travel from India and a valid
rabies vac
No microchip is required, but I do recommend having one.
Due to arthritis, check with your vet as to medications, etc.
NO sedation...... No food for several hours prior to travel or during
travel.  Water is necessary, of course
Do recommend dog travel as excess baggage as this is much cheaper than
cargo.
