Moving my cats from Tanzania to the USA

Hello,
Someone had asked a question on the 3rd of June 09 about travelling with her 2 cats from Tanzania to the USA.  Is it possible to find out whether she used a pet travel company or she travelled with them?  I am going to be leaving Tanzania very soon and have not found a reliable company to transport my cats.  I am quite stressed cause i have heard horror stories of pets either missing or dying while being transported.  I just wanted to know if there is any company or way i can transport my babies safely.  Your help in this matter will be highly appreciated.  Thanks

You have 'heard' horror stories of pet travel, BUT, you can NOT
document even one!!! I hear this all the time.  Total nonsense.
Check with the airlines that are available for your travel.  Try to
bring cat as excess baggage.  This does NOT mean in the cabin.
This will be much cheaper and cat would clear customs with you.
Visit:  www.ipata.com   and check with nearby countries for pet
shippers.  If you find some, they should be able to advise about
Tanzania.  I know there are several in South Africa.  They may be of
help
