repatriating to US from Philippines with pets

Question
Hello - We moved to the Philippines two years ago with 2 dogs and a cat - when moving over here we had to obtain a philippines import permit for each pet along with accompanying vaccination paperwork and health certificates.  We are re-patriating to Dallas, TX in April 09 - what is needed in terms of paperwork from the US (TX) and do I need to obtain an "export" permit from the Philippines or an import permit for the US?
thanks!
Craig

Answer
Hi Craig,

Thanks for your inquiry.  You will need an export certificate from the Philippines government quarantine official (the same place where you got the import permit) to leave from the Philippines.  This document is only good for 3 days after the date of issue.  There is no import permit for the US, and the only thing that is required to import a pet into the US is a health certificate dated within 10 days of the flight and proof of current rabies vaccination.
There is no quarantine for pets coming into the US.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Cheers!
