10yr old cat travelling to California from the UK

Question
QUESTION: Is there any airline which would allow me to have my cat in the passenger cabin with me from London to California? I know American airlines allow small pets to travel in the passenger cabin but will Heathrow allow me to do this via American Airlines.

ANSWER: Hi Laura,

Thank you for your inquiry.  Unfortunately the UK Government does not allow pets to arrive in the passenger cabin in their country due to rabies concerns.  You would need to send your cat as either manifest cargo or accompanied luggage underneath the plane.
The best airlines for sending pets to the UK include British Airways & Virgin Atlantic.

QUESTION: Hi there, I am taking my cat into California not bringing her into the UK and I am looking for an airline that will allow me to have her travel in the passenger cabin with me?

Thanks
Laura

Answer
Hi Laura,

Sorry, I misread your question.  I am not aware of any airlines that let you take a pet out of the UK in the passenger cabin.  I don't think that they allow this.

You might call and check with some of the airlines and see what they say.

Good luck!
