Question
I have had a saltwater tank for about 15 years now and had a lot of different run ins with parasites, disease ets. I just recently has a small out break of red slime because I let the maintenance go on my RO. I got that fixed no problem and was cleaning my glass since I was adding some more fish.

The tanks has been established for a few years with all the normal problems, nothing recent(3 yrs) except for the slime.

Anyway I noticed some small brown yellow amoeba shapes that looked like calcium or coraline growing, mostly in very calm water. Ends up they are some sort of worm/parasite and I have no idea how long they have been there, don't know if they will harm the fish but was wondering if you had any ideas on what to do if anything.

Answer
they sound like flat worms, MAJOR pain in the ass. my tank is over run with them at the mo, they are harmless to fish but they breed to epedemic proportions and smother light loveing inverts.

i have just ordered a splendid lepoard wrasse they are the only fish, that i have proof of, that will eat them. i bought a mandarin dragonet as it was roumoured they ate them but NOPE  also heard that a copperband may eat them but NOPE so this little wrasse is my last hope.

there are other ways to deal with them but its worth trying the more natural ways first
