too much amonia?

25 9:43:37

Question
I started a new marine tank and believe I made the mistake of putting in barnacles.  Now I can't lower the amonia and have lost several fish including two tangs, angel and clown trigger.  I was told to perform a partial water change every other day, but the amonia won't go away and I'm still losing fish.  What can I do?

Answer
Hey Jim

Are you using any cured live rock? if you are, it should be eating up the ammonia, if youre just using a filter, i would add a secondary filter or get some cured live rock. If you have cured rock, and this ammonia spike came out of the blue, do large water changes to get rid of the ammonia until it fixes itself

what reading of ammonia are you getting?
