I currenttly have a 30 Gallon freshwater tank and would like to turn it into a saltwater tank and I dont know what I need to make this change?

You would need: Salt, hydrometer, you could use your current filter if it is rated for a 30 gallon tank... I would upgrade the light bulb to a salt water bulb.  If you are diligent about your water changes you will not need a protein skimmer.  I would also recommend coral gravel to help buffer your pH.... hope this helps... dave
