Upgrading filtration

Question
I have a 65 gallon saltwater reef tank with about 50 pounds of live rock.  I have an aqua clear 70 hang on filter and an excalibur protien skimmer.  I have had decent results with both but I am not getting the water quality that I would like.  I am beginning to monitor calcium levels more closely in an effort to promote coralline algae.  In doing so I have had trouble keeping PH levels where they need to be, its 8.1-8.4 right?

I would also like to decrease the noise of the tank and have thought about converting to a sump or below tank system.  What would you recommend?

Answer
Hello
I have the same filter Aquaclear 70 ( it is noisy).  I like PH to be 8.0-8.4. At first try water changes around 20% per week.  Look into Purple up.  I used this product about a month ago and my tank exploded with pink and purple coralline growth.  These supplements are great for improving CA levels and targets live rock surfaces.

Mega flow has a new sump filter that I like.  You would need Model # 2 for a 65-75 gallon tank( $200-239.00).  Check this new sump filter out I have heard it's great.

Good luck Todd
