Question
I have a 55 gallon saltwater aquarium.  It's been going for about six months or so.  I have live rock and live sand, a couple damsels and three clown fish, and three big snails and a couple little snails.  I have no idea what kind of snails they are.  About a week ago, I noticed on the glass these tiny white snail shaped things, these things don't seem to move, but also there are these tiny brown bugs running all over the glass.  They are about the size of the tip of a pen.  I was wondering if maybe these little creatures might be baby snails looking for a shell or something?  Thanks

Answer

Hello,

sounds like you have some (tiny brown bug like creatures) copepods.  These guys are harmless.
They usually are hitch hikers on the live rock that you had.
There also may be baby snails too without actually seeing them it's hard to tell. By your description it sounds like they are baby snails.

Both are harmless to your tank so you need not worry about these guys.

Good Luck Todd
