Question
what have you found to be the best cure for ich in a marine aquarium?  if not all the fish are contaminated how will they be affected by the chemicals?  will my cleaner shrimp, anemones, brittle star and sand sifter star be able to survive?

Answer

Hello,

your inverts will not survive any of the treatments.

I love to use a low salinity method/copper sulfate.  1st you will need a basic quarantine set-up. 10 gallon will suffice.  Make sure it has a heater,  light, cover and filter with no carbon in it and a hide spot for your fish.

Lower the salinity of this tank 1.012.  If you can use water from your system then dilute this tank with aged fresh water.  Make sure both temps are the same. I then add Copper-sulfate(follow the directions to the tee).  Remember this is deadly to inverts. Also angel fishes, clown, butterfly fishes do not do well with copper sulfate. Also I never treat my display tank with chemicals I always use a small quarantine tank.
I leave the infected fish in this set-up for two weeks.

good luck todd
