Question
QUESTION: I was rearranging my live rock in my 12 gallon JBJ nano cube. When I found something odd. At first I thought it was just the rock but it moved when I shifted the rock around. My first assumption was that it was a small crab of some sort. (I'm slightly new to saltwater keeping) As it looks like a claw. But as I poked at it, it just closed up. So I'm trying to figure out what it is. I'm not sure if it's a small scallop or mussel. It looks greyish/white, like live rock before algae. The inside looks the same color from the pieces that were sticking out earlier.
Thanks.

ANSWER: Hello Rebeka,

Does the critter have two shells??? or just half a shell... it could be a Chiton, or a limpet..

does it move around or is it stuck in the same place...

how big/small is this critter???

A picture would be very helpful...

QUESTION: I've actually found a couple more in the tank. There is about 4. They are stationary. 2 shells with small jagged pieces coming through. The original I found is probably about an inch, 1 is about 1/2" and the other to are prob only a couple mm.  They're hidden in pieces of the live rock. I've tried taking pictures but they just aren't turning out.

Answer
yea, camera skillz are hard to acquire... better more expensive cameras really help too, although, i will never be able to afford one of those..

you might want to look up 'abalone'  and see if they look similar to them...
