Question
I have a breeding pair of Texan Chiclids that I have seperated in a separate tank with a Plecky that appears happy enough. I now have many baby Texans. How many are likely to survive and what should I do next?

Answer
Hi Stephen;

Congratulations! You might want to find out if your local fish store will want some of them when they get big enough. The plecostomus may eat some at night and eventually the parents may too if they are left in the tank with the parents too long. I'm not familiar with the specific habits of texans. You might consult Ron Coleman about it and see what he thinks. He is a cichlid expert that volunteers here. Here's his profile;
