Question
My Angelfish has a huge cyst near his mouth.  It has gradually grown over the past 8 weeks.  He is still eating, but ha definitely lost some weight.  Can something like this be removed or treated?  I have a picture, but don't know if pics can be posted here?

Thanks in advance

Answer
Hello,

If you would like to send me the picture my personal e-mail is ferret63@telus.net. However, I may you may not need to send them if you find that one of my solutions helps.

It could be a tumour. If it is, there is nothing that can be done. It may not kill your fish. Tumours are usually common in older fish, but can happen to any fish. Whether this is the case or not, it is difficult to say for sure. The best thing to do would be to treat it with an antibacterial. If the cyst is a cause other then tumours, this should help it go away. If it is a tumour, it will simply prevent secondary infection but the tumour itself will not go away.

I hope this helps.

Good-luck,
From Stephanie
