-----Question-----
Hey its fishman....
ive been noticing that two of my male molllies, one is a orange balloon and the other is a silver mollie have these two huge great big top fins......THEY ARE AWESOME.....well when they come close to eachother they do this moving thing staring at eachother while going in circles without looking away. so its like boxing. Well when they do that they open up their topfin to the max standing striahgt up...their fins are like bigger then them. It looks pretty cool but i wonder wat they are doing.....seems liek they are doing this showoff contest too see whose fin is better..... it seems like my orange baloon one lsot now cuase each time its mating with a female and the silver one comes by it runs away. MY FISH ARE WEIRD. ARE THEY HAVING CONTEST FOR GIRL FISH!!!!

also my silver male fish i think hes gay....he keep poking his anal fin into my other male fish and does the same thign as if it was a girl .....
-----Answer-----
yeah they are definatly fighting for dominance.
males will show off their top fin either to show off to females or to try to intimidate other males.

as for him being gay, a lot of males do this. No one is sure if it is becuase they are showing their dominance or becuase they can't tell if its a male or female and they just start trying to mate. He probably isnt gay though, the only reason a male would want to mate is reproduction, unlike humans where it is a mental descision based on personality. thats still pretty funny though.

yeah, i agree. fish are wierd.
ANSWER: she sounds like she has some sort of fungus or parasite. The white stuff sounds like ich, and the brown stuff sounds like fin rot. I would buy medications for both of these very soon, fin rot and ich become deadly very quickly and can spread to other fish easily.

For the size of your fry, I would wait until they are over half the size of your adult mollies. Not only can they get sucked up or injured from the filter, but also they can get bullied by adult mollies. Male mollies will pick on younger males, and will get younger females pregnant. Young females have a difficult time when they get pregnant and the litters of fry normally aren't healthy (either mostly stillborn, mostly unfertilized eggs, or mostly deformed). It also caused alot of stress on the female and sometimes they even die.

As long as you keep doing your water changes each week you don't really need to worry about your pH and amonia (fish pee) levels. I would only do about 25-50% water change per week though, instead of an entire water change (i'm not sure if that's what you meant when you said you changed your water).

i hope this helps! feel free to ask anything else.

QUESTION: URGENT!

well my black female molly, the one that had the older batch of fry was fat again so i moved it into a breeder trap...it didnt give babies for a while so i thought it had given up its pregnancy. Well today it is still in the breeder trap , but then i noticed it had this huge  egg sack looking thing sticking out of its bum. The only problem is that its stuck and its just staying there atached to it blocking its bumhole. Is that some internal fish parts or an egg sack of premature babies or what. all i know is that its blocking my fish's bum and it will be constipated and will die if it doesnt come out. Its huge and looks like millions of eggs or soemthing....HELP...PLZ ANSWER FAST...FISH LIFE AT STAKE!!!!
ANSWER: sounds like poop or a few eggs.

it should pass on its own pretty soon, and shouldnt cause any harm to her.
Molly eggs are pretty big, so if they look really small then it is probably just strange looking poop. Sometimes fish eat stuff they shouldnt that they have trouble getting out. I had a fish that ate a large and pointy snail... it had trouble getting that out and im sure it didnt feel too pleasant.

she shouldnt die from this though, it should come out. Juts make sure she keeps eating and that it passes soon. You could call a vet and ask if they know any food that you could feed her to make her go.

just dont worry too much, she's probaby just a little bit constipated, having her bum blocked for a short amount of time isnt fatal.
It also most likely isnt organs or internal fish parts... I dont think she'd hav been alive still if that happened and idk if thats even possible but that would be scary if it did =/

hopefully she passes soon so you dont need to worry, but i think shes just constipated.

QUESTION: ok...it was stuck there for one whole day....but then the day after i saw it wasn't there anymore and im pretty sure it wasn't pooop becuase it was like a jelly thing. i think it was fish eggs and i notice it ddind't fall into the breeeder trap. i think she ate it after she pooped it out. i have another question though... my fish all look really fat but then after i move it intot he trap... after a few days they become skinier liek they had babies but i dont see any. i know they dont eat them becuase of the trap and it couldnt happen that fast. so what?

Answer
they might be eating them... an adult can gobble up a litter of fry in undr five minutes, especially after not eating for a while from being pregnant and then giving birth... she will be HUNGRY! lol. but yes, you need to keep a careful watch. if you stick some plastic plants in the breeder net for babies to hide in then more should live.
