Question
QUESTION: I have veil angelfish and one of them have a popeye and looked like he was in a fight.  I separted him and treated the tank with medication from the pet store.  The treatment was for 5 days.  His eye has gotten worse.  I think it is infected. It is completly covered with a white fuzz.  He is still alive but not eating well.  It has been about 10 days.  Should I count him as dead or continue to try and treat him with another medication?

My second question is, I received a tank from a neighbor.  I cleaned it with bleach and water.  It doesn't link but it does have alot of fine scratches and a white haze.  What are the steps I need to take in order to get this tank up and running and ready to receive fish?Thank you
ANSWER: Lisa-
Your angelfish may be down and out.  Angelfish are extremely sensitive to water conditions, and injury may have made him more open to infection.  If the treatment has done nothing, then it maybe too late.  I'm very sorry.  As much as I'd like to see him get through, you may just need to euthanize him.

As for your new tank.  Get it up and running.  Keep an eye out for any fractures and such.  Then, test the water constantly, make sure that the bleach is completely gone.  Do 50% water changes daily for about a week.  Then, let the tank cycle and then your up and running.  Good luck!

QUESTION: Is there anything I can do about the fine scratches and the white haze that is covering the glass?  Is there something else I should use to clean it?

Since I asked this question, my angelfish has died.

Answer
Sorry to hear about the angelfish.  Unfortunately, there isn't much to do about the scratches and haze.  I'd suggest looking into getting scratch remover from your local hardware store, but otherwise, I don't have any ideas.  SORRY!  Good luck with everything
