Mineral deposits

I was just wondering how to get mineral deposits off of old aquariums? My boyfriend got an aquarium from one of his friends and it was DISGUSTING. He scraped off a lot of it but there is still a thin layer that will not come off. Can you suggest any way to get the deposits off? Thank you.

Hi Darlene, I have never been able to get every bit of my mineral deposits off my old tank but a brillow pad will help a lot it gets most all of it off. But when you fill your tank up with water you can not even tell they are there usually especially after the brillow pad scrub. Good Luck!
