Question
Are there any eels that will go well With a tiger oscar. If not then what kind of active bottom dwellers will be able to co-excist little-big buddy?

Answer
hi and thanks for the question.............

the only eel, outside of the illegal electric eel, that will co-exist with an oscar is a full grown tire track eel, however to house one u will need a 125gal minimum tank.  i am assuming u are aware that one single oscar requires 75gal tank.  as for bottom dwellers i reccommend any pleco, except rubber lipped and bristle nosed.  also with mine i keep a humbug catfish, also known as a striped raphael or talking catfish, be sure to give it lots of hiding places and rock work.  also drift wood is a must.  the bottom dwellers i mention for u are relatively hardy and easy to keep, although i reccommend the addition of aquarium salt at a rate of 1 teaspoonful per 5 gal of water to keep them happy.  also reccommend a canister style filter using both carbon and zeolite also some kind of sponge media in the filter.  apple snails are also great to keep with oscars, as are yellow and blue labs.  one of my oscars is very protective of a smaller(runt) yellow lab i keep with her.  they actually swim together and eat together.  remember your oscar will attain a total length of 16-24 inches depending on its genetics when it is full grown.  is say this because i purchased all of my oscars when they were little and now they are all really large, docile and hand feedable.  i can also pet them without risk of being bitten. oscars rarely bite the hand that feeds them.  as for other fish caution is the key, remember oscars are not aggressive, they just live to eat so anything that fits in their mouths is potential food.

i hope my advice helps let me know, i do take follow up questions as well....

good luck,
