worms

hi,                                                            i have a 47 gallon aquarium tank. ihave noticed some white worms on the glasses and swiming in the tank. can you tell me what are they,are they harmful to chiclids,their fry, breeding  conditions and their eggs and how to kill them?????????please help.

Hello Amit:  Those are more then likely Planaria... they are harmless to your fish.  They are a sign that your tank is dirty.  You may want to clean the gravel and do a partial (20%) water change... they will go away when the extra food is gone.... dave
