Question
QUESTION: Hi I have a 60gal hex tank I set up about 3 weeks ago I just tranferred some of the fish I had in my 55gal over to it because the clown loaches and the redtipped shark and also the bicher seems to be aggravating my peacock eels. My question is this I have an angel in another tank that I've had for awhile he is getting pretty big so I was wondering if I could put him/her in the 60gal with the other fish mentioned above?  Btw the fish above were gifted to me by a friend moving out of state I really want to put cichlids in this tank but for now as I said I want my peacock eels to be more at peace and since they were separated they come out to hand feed again. Also are the peacock eels (I have 3 one is very small and the other 2 are about 4/5inches) compatible with cichlids?  I know the rule is pretty much cichlids with cichlids but dont know it if pertains to eels as well? If so this would solve the issues of which tanks to put what. Sorry this went on and on but I have lots of questions. Thanks, Jas

ANSWER: Put the angelfish with the eels and not with the bichor.  I would not mix the eels with cichlids either... they may become lunch.  I don't see a tank that you have described that would house cichlids... unless you tried some very small gold sevrum, Arau, or maybe a chocolate cichlid.  They are mild manner but still cichlids... those might go with the bichor if the bichor is not too big.  If the bichor is large then get larger cichlids... dave

QUESTION: Well the newest 60gal tank was supposed to be my cichlid tank until I saw that the "inherited" bichor was tormenting my eels so I moved him the redtipped shark and the 2 clown loaches into it. Sounds like the main problem is the bichor? Maybe I could try to find a home for it then go ahead as planned while putting the loaches and shark back into the 55gal?

ANSWER: you might be able to trade the bichor in at the local fish store... call and ask them.  Bichors are great fish though too.   dave

QUESTION: Another bichor question. What are compatable with this fish? I put a thawed cube of shrimp in tank and he was thrashing it back and forth very violently and Im worried it will do that to a tankmate?  Could I put it in a 5gal heated/filtered/lit tank temporarily until I find it a new home? Thx Jas

Answer
Hi Jas:  Some of the bigger barbs... like the tin-foil barbs, other bichors, knife fish, silver dollars, giant danio, buens aris tetra, maybe even koi.  Bichors are pretty popular... if you call the local fish store they will probably give you fish credit for the bichor.  dave
