Question
hi, it's monika, i wanted to ask you, i have a 20 gallon tank about 8 fish in it(used to be 19, but 11 died, about 5 of them were sick) and 2 of them are red velvet swordtails. one is normal looking, but the other, looks very chubby, it eats and swims normally, but i think it's pregnant, i've had it for a month now, and if it was pregnant, would it have given labor by now??? i think it got (if it is) pregnant at the pet store, with another swordtail, is she pregnant? is she just fat? she looked pregnant right after i fed them maybe she's swollen? what do i do??!! *help is appreciated* thanks bye
^monika^

Answer
If she only looks swollen after feeding, she is not pregnant and just full. If she is swollen all the time she is probably pregnant and she should be due any time now, assuming she has been pregnant since you recieved her. If you plan on keeping the babies, assuming she will have them, you will need to remove them but its easier to remove her to another tank to give birth and than put her back in the regular tank than it is to remove the babies once born from the main tank. Let me know if you need more help.
