Question
QUESTION: I have had a betta tank (3 gallons) set up for several months - stable with 2 live plants and 1 very small algae eater.  Suddenly I have florescent green algae-slimy.  It is incessant.  After a thorough tank cleaning it's back.  What can I do to get rid of it?  Thank you.
ANSWER: That's the ting about algae. You can't really. Try getting a second algae eater since algae eaters are lazy little guys. If it's floating, try using a net to skim it out. One good thing does come from algae though, if it's green, you got a good tank. Brown, time to check to see what is wrong.

QUESTION: Ok.  I was afraid the Betta would eat our little guy (algae eater).

This algae is slimy florescent green.  That is still ok?
Thank you. ej

Answer
Bettas are actually good at leaving other types of fish alone. So don't worry, as long as your algae eater doesn't fit in his mouth, he won't get eaten.
I don't see a problem with that. If the eater doesn't eat it, get him some algae pellets and clean the algae manually.
