Question
Is it possible to cycle an aquarium using just plants and adding good bacteria along with the plants?  The 20 gallon tank has lots of plants in it.

Answer
Hello Marie,

Yes it is possible to cycle a tank with nothing in it at all but water and gravel! All a cycle is in a tank is a point of time when all the bacteria in the tank starts to grow and it evens out the chemicals in the tank. It well take over twice as much time. However if you want to cycle it using plants then make sure you have a good florecent light and let the tank sit for around a month. By then you can be pretty sure that it is able to put fish in it fine.
