Question
Hello, I have a 30 gal. tall aqaurium and the black plastic trim that goes around the bottom of the glass came off. I don't know if that plastic trim has anything to do with holding the four peices of glass together or if the silicone plays the only part in holding the glass together.
My question is: Will it be safe to set up the aquarium without that plastic peice or does the silicone provide sufficient strength to hold the aquarium together and keep it from collapsing?

Answer
Brandon,
the short answer is that the bottom piece you can do without, the top is annother matter.
However, for the cost of a replacement it would be a good idea to get one,if for no other reason that it looks good.
If you have further questions, feel free to ask.
If you look thru my other answers you will see that I answered this with instructions on how to replace.
