Question
hi again, i was just wondering if a female platy has already had fry about a month ago, then will the 2nd batch arive at any given time, or will her stomach once again get bigger which will let me know when she is about to burst. Her stomach has been smaller since the 1st batch but she still seems preganant. Once again, i am only wondering if there is any way to know when the 2nd batch will arrive.

Answer
Hi Alex.  You will definitely know when she's getting ready to have them, because she will look like she is going to blow up again.  She'll also appear to "square off", meaning under her stomach area will look like a box.  It doesn't always go the "30" day route, it really depends on many factors (temp., water parameters, food being fed, etc.).  As we both said, she will look like she is going to blow up when she is ready to have them.  Her appetite will get voracious and she'll want to eat everything!!  As having the fry is imminent, she will slow down with eating and possibly start hiding, etc.  If you are going to put her in a breeding net, I would put her in when she gets to the BIG stage, right before the POP looking stage, so she has time to settle before having the fry.

It will be (or should be) just like the first time.  Except for the fact that she should probably have more this time!!

You can keep in touch with me along the way and I'll help you through it if you'd like.  Good luck!!!   ;o)
