Freshwater stinky tank

Question
Hi,
I have a 29 gallon freshwater fish tank that has been up and running for about 3 months.  I allowed the tank to run for 1 week before adding any fish.  I then added 2 guppies.  They did fine so I added 2 platys, 2 dwarf guarmonis.  I allowed another week to pass then added 3 male and 3 female guppies.  I allowed 2 weeks to pass and added 2 neon tetras, and a emerald cory catfish.  I have also added since another cory and a sunrise snail.  But my tank has just started to stink.

I did a 50% water change on Tuesday this week.  The water has cleared some, but it still smells.  I plan to get a gravel vacuum today and clean the gravel and do another 50% water change.  HELP???!!!

Answer
Hello

It could be that there is just a harmless gas which is building up when you put the lid on the fish tank. I would try scrubbing the whole tank.

A smell in the tank is common because you have water that has been left in the open.
