Question
hello i have 2 young irredescant sharks maybe 5 or 6 months as i bought them from a fish store about a month ago. they are about 2 1/2 or 3 inches long. lately one of them has been hideing in one of two spots and sometimes even stands straight on it's head in the corner. but next time i look he/ she is swimming around happily again. this has been goin on for about three days now, i recently introduces 2 plecos into my tank. also i have 8 molly frys who i just released into the open tank a week ago and 3 platties. also my crushed coral has been getting an algea outbreak can you help me with the sharks and also the algea too, maybe there is a fix i can add to my water to help with the algea?

Answer
Hi Dave,
The best thing you could do for now is a 50% water change. Sometimes all that is needed is a few large water changes to correct a fish problem. I can't really be sure what might be wrong with your iridescent shark. But water changes are always the best first step. Keep a close eye on the little shark and make sure he isn't developing a sickness.

The water changes will also help with your algae outbreak. Also, testing your aquarium water for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates is always best to know if your tank is polluted. These levels should always be as follows, Ammonia-0 Nitrite-0 Nitrate-20 or less.

There's really nothing better you can do for your fish than 50% water changes over the course of several days. Just keep a close watch on the listless shark.

Best of luck and I hope this helps!
Karen~
