Extremely high temperature

Question
Hello,
Recently, my family and went on vacation and while we were gone the temperature of our tank was adjusted (not sure how). The temperature went up to ~96 F. I am not sure how long it was at that temperature, but it could have been for as long as 24 hours. My Pleco died, but my two Cremecicle Mollies survived. Before the incident the Mollies would hang out at the front of the tank, were always eager to eat, and not very jumpy. Now the Mollies hide in the back and seem very nervous and jumpy. They still eat ok, but do not seem as eager to eat, and the slightest movement makes they hide. My question is: will these fish survive? And is there anything I can to to help them?

Answer
Your Mollys are most likely highly stressed out from the water conditions. It is hard to say if they are going to live or not.  As long as they are eating they should do fine. The extra stress might have them jittery.  Lower the water temperature gradually to where it should be as a sudden change would stress them out even more.

Stress is one of the highest killers in the world of fish.
All you can do is hope for the best. They may come around.
