Red Devil Fish

Question
Hello, we are moving internationally and we have a red devil fish that is about 7 years old and 10 inches long, so he is very big.... We don't really know what to do with him since we cannot take him without for the move, so we were wondering if it would hurt him to release him into a pond on my dad's property in Indiana, will the fish survive in the winter months?

Thanks, Lesley

Answer
Hi Lesley,
Red devils are warm water fish. And I'm afraid Indiana temps would be far too cold for the red devil in the winter. I would try all local pet stores you can locate to see if they would be willing to take the fish. Many pet stores do and will re-sell such a valuable good sized cichlid.

I wish you the best and I hope this helps!
