Changing to a slightly larger aquarium

Question
QUESTION: I started my 10-gallon aquarium a month and a half ago; the ammonia level and nitrite/nitrate levels are fine, according to the tests that the fish people at the pet
store conducted.  I just added two small red-glowing tetras to the five tetras and solitary catfish in the tank. Question:
My husband found a 15-gallon tank that I'd like to use to give my fish more swim room!
(1) Should I transfer the stone/gravel, plants, water and fish?  (2) If not, do I start over, and do I include fish? (3)Is the pump and filter for a 10-gallon tank ("All-Glass 10-gallon Aquarium Kit")adequate for a 15-gallon tank? I'm completely new at this and want to do everything correctly. Thank you!
Andrea

ANSWER: Hi Andrea,
I think if you switch everything from the 10-gallon into the 15-gallon that would work out perfectly. Make sure to not wash any of the gravel or anything to preserve the beneficial bacteria. And the filter should be just fine for the 15 gallon.

Congrats on the find of the new tank!
I hope everything continues to work out fine!

QUESTION: Thanks very much, Karen. Can I add 5 gallons of water to the aquarium?  Also, how long should I wait before I use a pump to clean up the dirt that has collected in the gravel?  The water stabilized, finally, about a week ago.

Answer
Hi Andrea, You're welcome
Sure you can add some of the 10-gal tank's water to your 15-gal. Just switch all gravel and decor over to the tank (make sure to not let the gravel or filter dry out).

If you switch the 10-gallon's gravel and everything over quickly enough to the 15-gallon, you can treat it just like a normal established tank. That includes regular gravel vacuuming. At every water change preferably.

I really hope this helps!
Best wishes,
Karen~
