ballon mollie

Question
I have a ballon mollie(dalmation) with a pinkish type bubble coming out of it's rear end. I have no idea what to do. I know that they are live bearers but she has had this bubble since yesterday and it has gotten bigger today. I am wondering if the babies are stuck or if I have another problem on my hands. Any advice would be great.

I have a 5 gallon tank, with 2 ballon mollies, dwarf platy, 2 mini frogs. The tank has been running for a month and half. I do water changes every 2 weeks and it is about 1/3 of the water.I do not know about the water

Thanks

Answer
Hi Michelle
It's possible the fry is stuck, or like a clump of eggs that didn't get fertilized properly and that's what you're seeing.  I usually miss when my dwarf platies have their fry, but the one time I caught her, I didn't notice any bubbles coming out.  It's possible it could be internal parasites causing it as well.  Especially with balloon mollies, they have a weird shape anyway, and everything's kind of "compacted" in their bodies, a parasite or even a genetic defect could be pushing some intestines out.  Is she acting fine or showing any symptoms?

I'd recommend increasing your water changes to weekly and doing a gravel vacuum as well each week to keep the water quality good.
