Question
our jack demsey is having what seems to be is seizures...just started help!!!

Answer
Honestly I had to research this question. I found no info concerning Seizures in fish. What I did find were references to my original suspicion. SWIM BLADDER DISEASE. I have had this ailment once or twice in a couple of my fish. It is caused by bacteria, virus or other things. Those causes can come from many things. The bacteria/virus could live in flake food. The condition can also come from the fish eatting too fast. All fish have an air bladder they inflate/deflate to stay upright, go up, down, etc. The bacteria or virues infect the bladder making it hard for the fish to stay/go where it wants. Eatting too fast gets air in the stomach. That extra air bubble conflicts with the air bladder. The fish goes nuts try to swim straight apperaing to be a seizure. I found no info about curing the bacteria/virus cause. However there is some NEW evidence that feeding the fish a PEA (yeh the veggie) will stop it. I assume if the pea is too big you'd cut it up. Sorry but thats all I could find.
