Crossbreeding

Question
Hi!
I have an orange molly who just had ten babies, and now my white molly
is breeding with her, in stead of the other orange molly (a male) i bought
for her.
Is crossbreeding a good thing?
Is it really a big deal in this case bc the only difference is color?
And what color do you think the fry will turn out?
Thanks again,
Kaela

P.S. My little molly fry are doing great, and growing a lot!  The one with
the malformed tail is even trying to swim a little on his own since I've
been chasing him around with the pen!

Answer
Hey!
The crossbreeding is fine. Believe it or not, any molly can breed with any other molly, no matter what shape, size or color. So you could even breed a sailfin molly (these guys are big) and a balloon molly if you wanted to.

The fry could all look different from each other, or they could end up all looking the same. I like mixing up colors of my balloons because it's a suprise as to what you will get. some/all could be:
*orange
*white
*peach
*spotted, either orange on white or white on orange.

Also, some babies could end up being from your orange male as well, if they ended up mating too. And you could still have babies be the same color as the father from the litter that was just born (the one back at the pet store).

That's great that the one with the deformed tail is beginning to swim! I hope all of your babies continue to do great!
Best wishes, chels
