red devil

our 3 yr. old red devil just lays on bottom of the tank, and looks like he's having a hard time breathing. This has been going on for a week. He is usually active, build mountain with the rocks from bottom of tank, but nothing now. Hasn't eaten not even worms! The temp is 78-80 and we've changed water 40 -60 % every other day. Also put those "Tank Buddies" in water for parasites. and changed filters. Its a 55 gal tank. Can you please help, I don't want him to suffer, Thank you!

I've been researching since I read this question and I can't come up with a reason as to why he would not be eating. It might be his age.  Keep up the water changes and if you can get the water tested to see if there are any water levels out of whack.
