Angels and Water Movement

Question
Hi there. I have a question regarding angels and water movement.

In a newly acquired 55 gallon tank, I'm thinking about setting up a powerhead to aid with oxygenation. Would this be advisable with angels, though they prefer slow currents? Could I just point the powerhead close to one of the sides of my tank, as to not disturb the water too much, but at the same time have the oxygenation factor in there?

Any extra advice with this would be very helpful. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Alex,

This would be just fine to do. Just put the powerhead in the corner and aim it at the sides of the tank, as you say - I like to put the powerhead on the side that the filter is on so that the cleanest water is what gets circulated. If this seems to bother your angels at all (doubtful that it will) then just move the powerhead further down, until it seems not to bother them.

One note of caution - be sure to shut off your powerhead and then turn it back on afterward when you do a water change, otherwise you'll make a huge splash as the water level drops...I've done this by mistake before and it terrifies the heck out of all the fish!

I hope that helps, have a nice weekend.
