Question
hi, i would like to know if a female goldfish is constipated can she still lay eggs? also if she is constipated i will feed her green peas, but will that affect the amount of eggs? will the peas help her to get rid of the eggs? while i am keeping her separated for egg development can i feed her peas to avoid constipation and how long should i leave her for egg development?

Answer
Hi Antonio;

A constipated goldfish will have trouble laying eggs so whether it affects her egg production isn't going to matter. Her long-term health is more important. Constipation is life-threatening so it should be corrected and managed constantly. Goldfish are mostly vegetarian so their diet should be partly flakes or pellets and mostly veggies such as romaine lettuce, cooked green beans, cooked shredded carrots, squash, cucumbers and peeled peas.
