Do Female convict Cichlids usually die after birth or is this uncommon

Female convict cichlids dying after laying eggs? Are you certain the male doesn't kill her? I know this sounds bad but its possible. Although it would be quite rare.

My best guess is maybe the females are becoming really stressed or developing a illness from reproducing so often. I've known some fish to get sicknesses from producing a lot of eggs.

It would definitely take some investigating. Such as checking water parameters. Watching for stress triggors, illness symptoms, ect...

I hope this doesn't continue.
