Marbled hatchetfish tank mates

Question
Hi David, I have a 20 gallon planted aquarium with Java moss, green hedge, and hygrophilia basalimica (spelling?) and i was hopefully going to definitely be getting some marbled hatchetfish for my aquarium and was wondering about how many i could get and what other tank mates and an algae eater i could have with them. Could i have tiger barbs or would they be too aggressive and harm the hatchetfish? Are hatchetfish naturally in a dilute brackish water? Thanks in advance for the help. This will make my tank look great!

Answer
Hi Will:  Hatchets can live just fine in regular freshwater... the plants wont like the brackish water... Tiger barbs would probably harass the hatches and they may be destructive towards the plants... As for an algae eater... I would get a Siamese algae eater... looks more like a fish then a plecostomus and will not harm your plants.  As for tank mates for the hatches... about 10 hatches is all you need in your tank... and about 5-10 other fish... glass ghost cats, guppies, molly's platy's swordtails, danios, dojo loach, tuxedo eel, bala shark ,red finned shark, these would all be good tank mates... dave
